Allison’s Favorite Books
I wanted to create a little corner where I can share with you some of my favorite books, ones that have had a great impact on me and how I think and show up.
Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals
Just started reading this last week, and nearly done. It's definitely shifting my perspective on "Time" not as something that is to be USED, but rather something that just is, and releasing my grip on the never-ending to-do list (which will always be never-ending). Definitely making my top 10 list!
Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
This book could change your life. If there were ONE book I would want every creative soul to read, it would be THIS one. I’ve read this book 4 times now (once while thru-hiking the John Muir Trail). Each time it awakens my perspective and curiosity even more. Trust me - you won’t be able to put this one down (the audio version is great too, listen to it while you hike or drive).
To Shake the Sleeping Self: A Journey from Oregon to Patagonia, and a Quest for a Life with No Regret
I picked this book up randomly while walking around aimlessly at a Barnes and Noble with Michael one day during our van travels. Cheryl Strayed’s (author of Wild) name with a simple review was on the cover, “thrilling, tender, utterly absorbing… every chapter shimmered with truth.” And I was sold. This ended up being one of my favorite books I read in 2020 (probably in my top 5 favorite books of all time). It strongly asks us to live a life with no regret, and reflect on what that might look like. It’s an incredible story.
The Way of Integrity: Finding the Path to Your True Self
There is something profound about this book. I've only read it once (this year in 2023), but have been referencing it non-stop.
“The Way of Integrity” - when you’re living into your truth. Martha describes it as … “ when you experience the unity of intention, fascination, and purpose, you live like a bloodhound on a scent, joyfully doing what feels truest in each moment.”
A great book, one I'll likely be re-reading again and again. Perfect if you're going through a transition or a reinvention in your life.
